How can not like a cover like that? It just screams, "read me at the beach or at the laundromat," although this is a quality work.

The author's experience as a TV writer definitely shows through--it has that snappy dialogue and rhythm that one would expect from an English detective show. And some snap, as when a character addresses another as "you ponce."

I happen to love Jason Statham movies, and I could definitely see him acting in this. And there is a heist, although our heroines or antiheroines are the "widows" of the title, so this is more female-driven. Maybe Statham could be the gang boss in this.

Anyway, a cracking, punchy crime thriller is what this is, and a possibly guilty (?) pleasure.
