I just want to say right up front, I neither read the first book, nor saw the movie based on it. The book has been on my "I really should read this" list for a while and well, I just don't like seeing the movie of a book I haven't read. I thought that this sampler would give me an idea as to whether or not I would enjoy the first one. I have to say, so far, it isn't holding my interest. That's a pity because eI have genuinely enjoyed other books by LaPlante, though those were all in the more traditional mystery genre. It is a pity though, because I like the ideas behind the book. I still might read the first one, because as I said I like the concept, but not for a while, as right now, it seems likely that I'll end up DNFing it.
