This book wasn't exactly what I expected. But honestly that isn't a bad thing. I was expecting a lot more action and adventure but that wasn't this book. I'm really glad she decided to go the route that she did because it made me care about the characters more. I truly love Japanese lore and the Gumiho is one of my favorite. The nine tailed fox always seemed so interesting to me so I loved this adaptation.
Again, not having an adventure story really was the perfect way to go. I felt like connecting to the characters and watching them develop really drove this story. It was definitely interesting to see where the story went, even if some parts were predictable. The pacing was very well done with fantastic writing.
