*SCREAMS FOR DAYS*
Okay, I realize that could be interpreted as a good or bad thing, but in this case it is a good thing. A REALLY GOOD THING. The kind of happy scream that means all of those excited inner squeals are finally bursting forth in one incoherent noise of excitement because YOU’VE JUST FOUND A NEW FAVORITE BOOK.
Look, I’m always on the prowl for diverse and own voices stories, but as much as I want to love every single one of them, they’re books like any other. Some are disappointing, some I like… and then once in awhile, I’ll discover one that I LOVE and can happily and whole-heartedly recommend!
ARE YOU EXCITED YET? I read this book weeks ago and am just now catching up on my reviews, but I’M STILL NOT CALM. Because Wicked Fox is AWESOME awesome AWESOME! It’s everything I hoped for from the book and more.
It has fox magic. It has beautiful writing. It has mystery. It has MURDERY DEMONS. It has plot twists. It has mythology. It has backstory. It has dilemmas. It has KOREAN FOOD. It has high stakes. It has misunderstood characters and snarky characters. It has a cute romance (and I don’t even hope for cute romances, so this falls squarely in the *and more* category). Need I go on?
I’m trying really hard not to spoil anything about the story so you can experience this magic for yourself. But I binged the first book in one sitting (which I simultaneously recommend doing - THIS STORY IS ADDICTIVE - and don’t recommend doing - YOUR HEART MAY NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT) and I am reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyy excited for the next book!
