Wicked Fox took me on a Young Adult fantasy ride through Seoul! It follows Gu Miyoung, a gumiho (a magical nine-tailed Fox), and Jihoon, a teenage boy. Gumiho must kill men by stealing their gi, or energy, to survive. Fate throws them together when Miyoung saves Jihoon from a dokkaebi (goblin) attack. In the process, Miyoung loses her bead, or her gumiho soul. Jihoon and Miyoung must work together to get it back.
I loved Wicked Fox! It was full of Korean culture: mythology, customs, food, etc. Jihoon and Miyoung both had a tragic history which added depth to the novel. I was cheering them on the whole time. I can’t wait for the second novel in the series!
