From the beginning, I knew I would like this book. The cover is similar to just about all YA fantasy novels, but that's what makes it great. Plus, the colors are great—I love the purple. And it's very obvious from the cover that this book is going to feature Korean characters.

That being said, I was hooked from the first few pages. The characters are so well developed and the relationships between them (all of them, not just the main characters Jihoon and Miyoung) are perfectly flawed.

The idea of Korean mythology, in general, is fascinating and I'm so glad to see more books delve into it, especially when, like this one, they actually take place in Korea. I love that this follows the myth of the Guhimo, or the nine-tailed fox.

The story beyond just the myth is exciting too, once it really gets going. It took awhile for the story to take off, since it's more on the romance side of YA fantasy. I would have liked to dig deeper into the myth, magic, and conflict, though. But I am excited to continue this series!
