Wicked Fox by Kat Cho is the story of Miyoung Gu, a teenage girl who is secretly a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who needs the energy of men in order to survive. She crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, who is being attacked by a goblin, and decides to intervene to save him - to devastating effects. Miyoung loses her fox bead, her gumiho soul, and must bargain and fight to retrieve it in order to survive.
I highly enjoyed this one. Miyoung is fierce and terrifying, but also fragile and still learning how to be a friend and interact with humans. Jihoon is equally stubborn, and without giving away any spoilers, let's just say that Miyoung and Jihoon's actions have consequences that weigh heavily on them both. I really like Kat Cho's style of writing, and am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Vicious Spirits as I've heard great things about it!
