Again, I feel like I am reading books that are out of my comfort zone or that cover topics that I haven't previously read or ventured into. So obviously I haven't really read any books about Cherokee culture or Native Americans. An interesting first foray.

First, cover and title. I didn't care much for the cover. I think that the colors didn't particularly appeal to me. It was by no means an ugly cover, just not my style. I really liked the symbolism of the title. It was amazing and made me smile internally and externally.

I really like historical fiction novels, so I'm not too surprised that I got very immersed into this book. The prose was really good and the characters so realistic. I really like this idea of friendships in the most unlikely of places, and it really worked here. The character development was the best part of it for me. I would definitely try to go back and read this author's first book!
