First the cover - I really thought the cover was themed well, simple but using extravagant colors to signify the time period. It was also aesthetically appealing.
Second the first impression - I loved the story, i thought how the author titled the chapters (the main act, backstage, etc) was very different and interesting. I also love how the characters all have very diverse backgrounds, one being indigenous and the other being African American and another being a war veteran. The characters struggles, beliefs and differences were really displayed beautifully in this book.
