Nice, but not a clear picture of what to expect...

I enjoyed the start of this book. I've never read anything by this author (although she certainly has some high praise attached to her name), and I'm not sure that I got a clear sense of what to expect from this novel - the first look was on the shorter side. But I liked the characterizations thus far, and the plot summary definitely sounded interesting.
