This book starts out with a mini-history lesson of sorts, and this is something I struggled with. The synopsis already didn't really draw me in, and so the start really sealed the deal for me in that way. I appreciate how forward the narration is. It calls out white colonising and harmful ideas, but other than that, I found myself bored. I think this is a classic case of maybe this just isn't for me.
The cover makes me think this book is an older style which, for some, I'm sure would be rather appealing, but, for me, it does not draw me in.
