A new and humorous look at our forgotten past
I was really impressed by this excerpt if When Two Feathers Fell From the Sky. Specifically, I was really happy to see the diversity represented in the book.
The book stars Two, a Cherokee girl, who works in a sideshow of the Wild West. So far, her family plays an important role, and there's also another character who is black. I really like historical fiction books that go back and tell us about People of Color, since so often they are neglected and not mentioned in history textbooks, which are mostly about white people. Another thing that I enjoyed about this excerpt was the humor. The best historical fiction books include humor and levity during times of darkness, and I definitely saw that here in Two's innocent and childlike attitude when facing a difficult situation. I have added this book to my TBR list, and I can't wait to keep reading to find out what happens next
