I’m going to have an unpopular opinion here but this book was not for me and I wasn’t able to finish it. I hate saying that. The writing is truly beautiful but I think maybe it’s because this isn’t the typical genre I would read. I also didn’t feel any connection to the characters, which is something I look for when reading.
I will say that what I did read made me forever grateful for the life I live and where I live.
I also love that the author based this off of her experience from her time spent in the country. I would never be brave enough to do so.
Her descriptions of the scenery were very well done and I could picture it in my head very easily. Isn’t that why we all love to read- to get that vivid picture and feel as if we’re there?!
I would absolutely consider reading another book written by this author. Again, she writes beautifully but the subject was not interesting to me.
