Beautiful
This book described in one word is beautiful. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's write this review from outside in.
So the cover comes first. I actually liked the cover. I think it was pretty and relevant to the story itself. I also liked the title, not boring at all and very appropriate.
Next, comes the characters. I loved the character development. I actually thought they were very well written and so alive. The characters were very complex (to me at least) and I could actively imagine them and be with them throughout all of their experiences.
When I learned that this book is the author's first book, I was pleasantly surprised. It's not often that you get a debut novel with such character depth.
Overall, I liked the plot. As American born and raised, I have no experiences similar to these women but it was so articulate and nicely described that I had no problem imagining it.
