This story establishes an emotional connection to an era that emitted total silence. We were all affected by the Iraq War. It feels good to know that the history of Baghdad hasn’t been forgotten. My hope is that Wilkinson sheds light on the darkest parts of this era. I am beyond interested in hearing more about the “secret police”. It doesn’t sound very secretive at all actually. I can’t help but draw parallels to American life. Never thought I would ever compare Baghdad to America. That thought alone makes me more receptive to all of the secrets that “When the Apricots Bloom” has to tell.

Once one is liberated from it, the possibilities are endless. Can Huda, Raina, and Ally come together? Or will fear tear them apart? Wilkinson has vividly painted an incredible story that will stand the test of time. It must be told and I want to read it!
