This novel appears to focus on three characters: Huda and Raina, two "blood sisters" who have been friends since early childhood, and Ally, an Australian diplomat's wife. All live in Iran during the totalitarian reign of Saddam Hussein. Thus, this novel may give the reader a glimpse into a period of and place in history that made life terrifying for these characters. I found the first few chapters extremely engaging, making me want to read more as soon as I finished them. I truly look forward to reading the rest of this novel!
