On reading the description, I immediately felt uncomfortable because the author is a white former foreign correspondent parlaying her experience into a broader story about women in Iraq. I suppose this could be done un-problematically (by perhaps focusing on a similar character), the focus on Iraqi women and the presumption of writing their own interiority seems...questionable, at best. This is definitely not for me, though I'd imagine it will do well given how the 'white women tell stories of non-white people's experiences' sub-genre is so popular...
