I liked the start of this book. The opening definitely makes it seem that there will be sorrow to come for the characters involved - which I don't always love going into a new book - but I like the way the author creates scenes in the opening chapters. They felt very rich with detail, and I suspect that although there will be hardship and sadness in this novel that there will also be emotional triumphs as well. At least i hope so, and the potential for it makes me interested in reading further.
