I’m giving this one 3.5 stars. This novel first and foremost has such a great cover! It just begs for attention and it’s super eye catching. I loved the story, it’s well thought out and the house itself was great too. I did love the mystery but I think where it fell a little short for me was the lack of ability for me to connect with the family members. Their connections with each other wasn’t convincing for me and I wish it was stronger. Those Adams Family vibes only saved it so much. What I really loved was the gothic moodiness of the book and Eleanor was a great fit within that. Its creepy vibes mixed with how her family is described really makes me want to visit for a short family gathering because that’s the kind of weird you want to witness. But when push comes to shove, I just think this novel needed a little more help and explications for me to want to give it those higher stars.
