Eleanor Zarrin was sent away to boarding school by her grandmother, Persephone. She lived there with no contact from her family from a very young age. However, after an incident with a bully she fled the school and headed back home to a family who had seemingly forgotten her.
When Eleanor reaches home she immediately questions whether or not she made the right choice. Eleanor's family is not like other families. Some have the ability to shape shift into wolves and others are witches. Some appear to hate her and even try to attack her, though Eleanor has no idea why.
Shortly after she arrives home her grandmother passes and leaves her in charge of keeping the family safe, a responsibility she takes seriously.
She seeks help from another relative who has secrets of her own.
Overall this was a very good story that I zipped through in a few days. It was original and suspenseful. Although a little creepy I would not consider this a horror by any means.
I was a little disappointed with a couple things. I felt the author could have explained the strange infatuation that all the family members seemed to have with Arthur and I felt more needed to be said about some of the supporting characters like the mom or aunt. This lack of detail left me a little confused.
I still want to give this book a 4 star review as it was hard to put down and I wanted to read the last pages first for spoilers. For me, this is a sign of a good book. Looking forward to seeing more from this author.
