Immediately the reader is thrust into a world full of monsters that Eleanor is willingly walking toward, because they're family. But instead of the normal, happy feelings that come with seeing family, her family, who she grew up with, is as monstrous to her as they seem to us who have never met them. It's a great way to start and I can't wait to see why Eleanour has come back and how she will adjust.
