As someone who has read almost every single retelling or spinoff of Frankenstein, I had high hopes for this book, however I think the witchcraft and resurrection and overall darkness of this book just made it not for me. It seems as using Frankenstein as a base plot has become a trend of today, Poor Things used it in their advertisement, yet to compare that movie to Frankenstein is strange as all they have in common is bringing someone dead back to life. I think the same thing can be said for this book, as it didn't really scream Frankenstein other than bringing someone back from the dead.

However, for the terms of the cover, I do love this cover. It's what drew me into initially grabbing this book to read, the purple and black contrast as well as the alive human and the skeleton intrigued me and made me interested in whatever this book had in store.
