Sim writes beautiful, gruesome prose that just sucks you in immediately, and the stakes are already high. We're promised magic, necromancy, and strange creatures, and I'm totally here for it. These familiar concepts fell like a breath of fresh air in Tara Sim's hands.
While the setup for the book pulls us in, I'll admit I'm left wondering what exactly began this turn of events, though I'm sure all will be answered in time. What we do know is that our protagonist, Kajal, is cunning and smart, and willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants.
