We Shall Be Monsters jumps right into the action, declaring up front that this book is going to be all kinds of dark and twisted. Sim writes beautiful, gruesome prose that just sucks you in immediately, and the stakes are already high. We're promised magic, necromancy, and strange creatures, and I'm totally here for it. These familiar concepts fell like a breath of fresh air in Tara Sim's hands.

While the setup for the book pulls us in, I'll admit I'm left wondering what exactly began this turn of events, though I'm sure all will be answered in time. What we do know is that our protagonist, Kajal, is cunning and smart, and willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants.

I'm so looking forward to seeing where this story takes us.
