While the synopsis sounded intriguing, I had a difficult time getting into “We Shall be Monsters.” Perhaps it was because of the genre; I don’t typically read fantasy novels and am already finding this storyline a bit hard to follow due to the mythical creatures. However, I was immediately drawn to the darker horror aspect of this novel and am hopeful it will make muddling through the beginning worth it. I adore the dark nature of the cover, and love the stylistic depiction of the portraits in butterfly wings!
