This book was legendary. This book did middle eastern representation justice, and the fantasy just made it better

The world building was vibrant and so well done that I felt I was there—wished I was there. The descriptions, the language, the characters, everything. Every part was detailed from the palace to traveling through azr to the food. THE FOOD. I think I was watering at the mouth half the time. The food added representation to the culture and man I have never been more proud of middle easter cuisine.

Another thing Hafsah did well was the character. I throughly enjoyed the side character stories and how they weren’t just there to add to the main character’s persona and main plot but they had their own story and I was just as invested in it. Each have their own dreams, their own fears. They were written with such complexity that they became real, so real. Also can we talk about Altair and Nasir’s bromance? They went from enemies to best friends forever and ever, and I enjoyed that development so so much. Their relationship was like a breath of fresh air.

I loved them all. I loved everything: the plot, the characters, the cuisine, the Arabian setting, the middle eastern representation, I am definitely reading the next book.
