Slow Read
This book was very long and drawn out with descriptions that went past the point of helping the plot. I was drawn to read this book because of all of the great reviews I had seen on social media. In the beginning the novel was interesting and I really enjoyed getting to know the main characters.
However, as the book progressed, I started becoming more and more confused by the plot. Where we were headed? Why were we on the island? What are these creatures on the island?
The visuals I was given were more confusing than helpful. I was so disappointed, and I am unsure if it was my lack of reading comprehension or the actual descriptions that lead me away from understanding and feeling fully immersed in the plot.
This is a book that I cannot consider reading the sequel due to not being able to get into the writing style. I think you have to be fully engaged and aware to enjoy this novel.
