Really Invested by the End

It was shaky at the start, but I really got invested later on! Ahhh!

Hafsah Faizal has a very lyrical writing style -- I loved seeing how her writing introduced parallels within the dual POV structure (i.e. the first two chapters), and I thought the quest helped the novel maintain a goal. I got really invested by the end of the story, and definitely was yearning to read the sequel.

I think WE HUNT THE FLAME may suffer from being too long and lose readers that way, but that's not necessarily *wrong* about the book, just something that may turn away readers. No book is for everyone, and if this is the story Faizal wants to tell, then I think it's the story that should be told. Ultimately, WE HUNT THE FLAME is certainly on the meatier side of YA fantasies, but introduces a compelling world with a wide cast of characters who will capture your heart and mind.
