I was so, so disappointed with this book. I was expecting some lush fantasy world with some assassin like characters but that was not at all what I got. This book certainly had some potential but I think overall it was not executed very well. The biggest issue I think was that after a few short chapters, things started to petter out and it got boring very fast. The two main characters didn't keep me engaged at all and in fact, they were just so bland. No personality or character at all.
I also felt that the worldbuilding was mediocre at best and I couldn't find myself picturing the setting which I was so excited for because it was supposed to be a lush Arabian world but it didn't feel that way at all.
I also heard comparisons to Throne of Glass which I could kind of see but this felt like a cheap knockoff version at best.
Overall, I would not recommend this book.
