When I read this book I was not aware it was a duology. That cliff hanger ending really threw me for a loop. I was not prepared for all the plot twists. Arawiya has has amazing world building. The jungle was alive, and Altair was my favorite through the whole story, his one liners and banter kept me laughing. He is the best.
I felt the flow being broken every time words in Arabic was used. The problem was the lack of context clues, since I do not know much about Arabic culture. The prose is beautifully written. The plot of the story is fast paced that once it starts, doesn't slow down.
"We hunt the Flame" tells the story of a legendary hunter who journeys into a dangerous forest to find food for her people. When she is tasked with the quest to go on a dangerous mission to retrieve an artifact of great power, the hunter soon becomes the hunted. The story is told in dual perspectives alternating between Zafira the hunter, and Nasir the Prince. This story is a steamy enemies to lovers trope
