When I started this book, I was not sure exactly how everything would play out. Normally I do not read books based in the Middle East but I am so glad I did this time. This book was just as gorgeous as the cover. Zafira was a tough main character who did what she had to help the people of her country. Nasir was a quiet assassin who would do anything to make his father proud of him. The two of them realize that they need each other to get this mission accomplished so their country can flourish the way it was meant to. Hopefully, the second book will explore the relationship between Nasir and Zafira even more because the two of them can do good together rather than apart. Overall, these characters are developed really well in a way that allows the reader to understand their backgrounds and understand why they are the way they are while hoping that they can be the best versions of themselves. This book is perfect for fans of fantasy and magic.
