I have always marveled at certain writer’s ability to craft entire worlds so different from our own while evoking a sense of familiarity, something Hafsah Faizal did incredibly well in We Hunt The Flame. Perhaps the similarities to Throne of Glass, my favorite book series, may have drawn me in but I stayed for the incredible characters and worldbuilding.
The middle eastern world was extremely intriguing, a welcome diversity from the normally western like worlds. I also liked the imagery used, each sentence felt like a perfectly crafted quote ready to be printed on art or clothing.
I wished the pacing was better, moments dragged for longer than they should have. And the plot moved slower than I would have liked. That being said, I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store. Faizal is sure to deliver yet another beautifully written novel!
