I have only so far gotten through the first chapter and already I can see how well Hafza Faizal can write. Although most of the time, I shy away from books with worlds that are completely different with confusing and new names for everything, I find that even after the first chapter, I am already able to understand the majority of what is going on, despite only just now learning all these different words and places. I can already sense that it sounds almost like a Mulan-like story with the main character pretending to be a man and this definitely intrigued me a lot as I am rather fond of retellings. The two sentences introducing the two main characters also caught my eye and makes me want to read more “P eople lived because she killed” and “People died because he lived”.
