I liked the scene-setting in the beginning. The mystery set up of who the woman in the forest is and how she knew these things gave me a feeling of anticipation and the want to know why and how she was there if the forest is so terrifying according to Zafira.
Nasir and his adamant need to prove to himself that he's a monster was interesting. Some of his actions and words prove otherwise. I think it'll set up the rest of the story to prove if he really is one or not.
