First off I thoroughly enjoy books that bounce between time frames. Then if you throw in a mystery pile of photographs, I'm there. I am intrigued noting that other reviews remarked on the impact of this book being similar to To Kill A Mockingbird. In this short excerpt, family dynamics, interracial marriages during possibly the 1960's, riots and mysteries are all hinted at. Elizabeth Balsam, an investigative reporter, is given a box of photographs and a camera with the request to deliver them back to their rightful owner - a great aunt that Elizabeth is unaware of having. But she isn't interested in this request as she has a investigation going on a judge she is focused on. The past and the present are going to collide as both seem to reference the 1060s riots. This one is on my TBR!
