I need to read this book!
My attention was grabbed when an initial comparison was made to my favorite book, Mockingbird. When I began reading I could immediately see why it was made. A combination of racial difference, a tense situation in American history, an inquisitive white girl, distrustful black man, and the South gives us a roadmap for an all too often conflict with the past.
The main character seems to be a smart, inituitive young woman trying to make a difference in the complex world she lives in...a modern woman who is shoved into the family past she seems to know little about. Family can be our greatest treasure but sometimes the thing that literally drives us. Our main character seems to have removed herself from hers and now will have to jump back in with both feet. When the pages would not go further, I felt the frustration every reader feels when they can not find out where we are going next! Hopefully You and I will find out soon!
