I must admit, the title and consequently the synopsis of this book were what drove me to preview it. I love historical novels and I really enjoy and ponder over novels that explore racial issues. I also love a good romance mixed in with all of that. For me, this novel has it all. I want to read more than just the first look. My only complaint about the novel is that the story did not develop quickly enough; or to put it another way, it wasn't fast-paced enough for me in those first few pages. I wanted more! I can believe that in this story many characters will appear with whom I will be able to relate. Therefore, I can't wait to finish reading. I love everything about this story so far!
