Hmm...still need more info to make a decision
This is a part of my quest to go back through and hit all the old books in an effort to garner more points to use on free books. In so doing, I download a bunch of the excerpts, slap them on the nook, and then later, offline, read through them and make notes, only to come back here to write those up at a later point.
This is another instance of the blurb provided by Bookish First sounding interesting, but the excerpt not being long enough to make a solid distinction as to whether or not to continue reading. There are several issues that came up when reading the excerpt, or first look, including a high reliance on stereotypes for character development and a high emphasis on sports, which seemed out of context. It was also weird to have a quote about Detroit before starting to talk about Louisiana - while the blurb indicates that Detroit will be a setting at some point, this seems to be a poor layout decision, further confusing the matter as to whether or not it will be a worthwhile read.
