This is the first book by Erin Bartels that I have read and it won’t be the last.The story is was told by three different characters Elizabeth, Nora and Mary who were all related but were told during different times that took place in the family farm. The story begins when Elizabeth, a writer for a newspaper is contacted by a man who says he has something that belongs to a relative of hers, a relative she never knew of. She goes to meet her, Nora her great aunt and that is where she here’s story’s about Mary. Nora married a black man and Mary was in love with a black man but married. I enjoyed every moment of the book and was quite surprised with some of the things that happened. I definitely recommend this book.
