The author quickly engages the reader with, what looks to be, the main plot line: a search for answers as to why a box of old photos is so important and what impact they might have on Elizabeth, and, possibly, open a doorway into Detroit's history that's been hidden.
Having lived in Detroit for 57 years, it's impact and the events I lived through, especially the time surrounding the '67 riots, vividly stamped so many images in my memory. Having moved away from Detroit 14 years ago, I'm curious to see what the city looks like today and whether the changes I've read about are real. I definitely want to read how this plays out.
