A book that's rich with romance, history, and a little mystery
I absolutely loved this book.I loved how the book switched from present day, 1960s, and 1860s all in Detroit/LaPeer county Michigan. Especially since I live in Indiana near the Michigan State line and have been to Detroit quite a few times so I could see everything that was going on in the story so clear in my head.
I loved how the author described each character and their thoughts and emotions so well I felt like I knew each character in real life by the end of the story.
I loved trying to figure out the family's secets, their past, and what was to come next.
If you love family literature mixed with hints of mystery, romance, and history, then this is the book for you. You will be taken to the late 1800s when the Civil War breaks out and the Underground Railroad is in high swing, to 1967 Detroit Riots where the streets ran red, and finally to present day Detroit where a young woman must help her Aunt finally face the past she has so desperately tried to bury.
