Liz Balsam has piqued my interest! I like her back story (so far as we have learned in the fist chapter), her job, and her ability / inability to withdraw emotionally. I think Detroit and the problems the city has faced in the past and is facing now makes the location very relevant to our country today. From reading the reviews at the beginning that this novel deals with racism through the ages makes this book near the top of my reading list. I love historical fiction!
