I am very impressed and intrigued by the first few pages of "We Hope for Better Things." I enjoy novels where the reader is dropped directly into the action of the story, and that is certainly true of this book. I could feel the frantic pace of both settings we experience in the first few pages.
I also enjoyed the character descriptions so far. Sisters who haven't communicated in two years? Parents you haven't seen in eight years? An aunt you never knew existed? I'm eager to read on!
