I’ve read only a few of these short biographies and already I’m intrigued. Here is yet another reminder of how much women of color can achieve, how adversity makes us stronger, how far we’ve come and how far we’ve yet to go.
The stories are simple, frank and pull no punches. The three represented in the excerpt are clearly young but you don’t get the sensation that youth is necessarily a boon. Young or old, women of color struggle to find their footing in the world. You can draw inspiration and hope from these stories and decide that maybe that far-flung dream isn’t so out of reach, after all.
