The cover is stunning, definitely eye-catching. The synopsis is a little on the weak side, but it is a non-fiction book and there's only so much that can be said. The table of contents shows a strong selection of women from a variety of careers. The photos feel a bit like a scrapbook collage. Although they fit with the overall artistic feel of the book, I personally feel they are a bit overdone. I like the layout of each story, with quotes from each profile highlighted. I also appreciate that the author did not shy away from the trauma of some of the profiles and that she clearly highlights those profiles in the table of contents with a trigger warning. This is an important book as it highlights strong women, and more importantly strong, powerful women of color. This is a must-read.
