In many ways, books like We Go High will always fall a bit short - how can you pick just 30 folks to profile across? How can you share a person's story (even one snippet of their impact) in just a couple pages? I appreciate that Nicole Ellis attempts this and selects women of color that span identities, ethnicities, generations, professions/careers. The profiles are very straightforward - a series of facts and brief biography. I think it would've helped to get a better sense of the individual's impact in their field as this wasn't always entirely clear to me (admittedly I'm not current on pop culture). I love the cover, I appreciate the spectrum of women represented, I think a bit more substance in the content could've been great, especially more direct quotes from the profiled person. Definitely a book I'd love to keep in my classroom or school library for students.
