This book wowed me! Going into the premise of this book, I knew that it would be a great story if the writing was paced correctly and if it was handled maturely with excellent word choice.
All of that happened. We get so many emotions throughout this story and are kept intrigued throughout since we have a bit of a mystery plot line to follow.
Our main character travels with her mom from their home to her grandmothers home in the south because of the grandmothers ailing health. To her, this is the worst that could happen. However, she soon makes a friend and gets to know her grandmother a little better. She gets an opportunity to learn more about herself, her mom, her family. She learns what it takes to be a real friend, she gets first hand experience of racism in the south and how we all have different experiences that make sure who we are. A must reread.
