I know this is a debut novel but this is an incredible story that I highly recommend!
I read a lot of important books that tackles societal issues which make it a necessary read.
First thing that I noticed when I started reading this book (which I accompanied with an audiobook) is the voice of the main character. Avery, as the protagonist, is equally strong and beautifully written. I tend to enjoy reading stories that follows characters with realistic struggles and Avery's problems surrounding her and her family is something that resonated with me as a reader.
We Deserve Monuments is a story about family, friendship, love, joy, and how trauma affects a person - not just today but until the next steps in their life.
The cover is something that definitely caught my eye when I first saw the cover reveal in bookstagram and I am in awe when I saw it physically.
