I expected something different

I was initially drawn to this book because of the cover and the family mystery/drama aspect. I am not the target audience for the themes of the second half of the book, but with that in mind, this was a good read. I was disappointed overall because the family mystery and the twists I was expecting from that, fell flat and took a back seat to the romance theme. The writing was great and the character development was spot-on but unfortunately I just didn't connect with the story. I was really hoping for... not necessarily more but, let me say... different? For a quick summary -- we follow the main character as she moves in with her grandmother who is suffering from a terminal illness. She notices her mother and her grandmother have a serious rift in their relationship and begins to dig into the family mystery to find out why they do not get along.
