Very enticing blurb but...
I'm kind of in the middle with this one.
The writing isn't very engaging to me, and while I like some of the characters, I feel like I'm stuck on a surface-level impression of them. I'll acknowledge there are merely two chapters available, so maybe I need to see more interactions, but they seem flat. For example, Avery's dad is warm and upbeat, but his personality comes off as 2-dimensional.
I thought the COVID reference was a bit awkward as well.
I still want to learn about Zora and Mama Letty's relationship, as their story is the most compelling to me. And the cover is pretty too.
