I was hooked from the very first paragraph of this story, and, knowing how difficult it can be to transition from a big city to a small town, I'm excited to read more of Avery's perspective. Along with that, the description makes me think this is going to be like a mashup of Georgia Peaches & Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown and Ace of Spades by Faridah Abike-Iyimide, which makes me even more enthusiastic to read the full story!
